Loading... Tata Power, India's largest integrated power company, has secured approval from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to install a 100MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across Mumbai.
The comprehensive 100 MW system shall be deployed across 10 strategically selected sites, particularly near load centres throughout Mumbai distribution, with centralised supervision and regulation from Tata Power's Power System Control Centre (PSCC).
The undertaking shall be implemented across 10 strategically positioned locations in Mumbai during the forthcoming two-year period, Tata Power disclosed in an exchange notification.
It will protect essential services including the Mumbai Metro, hospitals, airports, and data centers from large-scale blackouts. The system is also designed to optimize reactive power management, improve peak demand efficiency, and reinforce the city's overall electricity infrastructure.
